Last Friday I got the chance to take a cooking class here in Rome at Punto di Cottura. They’re a small amateur cooking school just a bit north of the Vatican. They offer many different options in classes from private groups to market tours all for a reasonable price.
In our class, we learned to make linguine, a classic tomato sauce and tiramisu.
We stated with the tiramisu because it had to sit in the refrigerator for a little while before we could dig in. It was a simple and quick recipe I feel confident I could replicate again at home. Although I did mess up separating the yolks, thankfully I was able to fix it.
I had made pasta before, but it was quite a few years ago and I don’t remember it going too well in the not making a total mess department. This time it went better and I was actually able to mix it all without getting egg everywhere.
Honestly, I was pretty happy with how mine came out. Next, we made the sauce which was a simple mixture of pureed tomato paste, onion, garlic, olive oil and oregano. I put some hot pepper in mine after but I ended up putting too much and it got a little too spicy haha.
We put everything together finally and got to have our dinner! I was so happy to finally get to eat being around all those ingredients was making me so hungry. I might have snagged a few pieces of pasta dough… I couldn’t help it, it looked so good even uncooked!
Ah! The final product! It ended up tasting pretty good for a bunch of America college kids. Overall it was a really great time. The pace was beautiful and the cook instructing us was fun and very helpful. I hope I can go back again some time and learn to cook something else.
